Record Attendance at leading Independent School’s Open Day
Girls from the Junior, Senior and new Sixth Form at St Dominic’s School, Brewood welcomed a record number of families to the school’s October Open Day.
Pupils, teaching staff and Headteacher, Mrs. Sandra White, guided prospective parents and daughters around a typical day of classes and activities at St Dominic’s School and Sixth Form. Year 7 and 8 girls demonstrated recently learnt experiments in Science in the Chemistry and Physics Labs. Parents walked through ICT’s interactive whiteboard display before visiting a full range of curriculum subjects.
Mrs White said, “Our Open Day is a real chance for families to enjoy the quality teaching environment that we all pride ourselves on, the girls really take pleasure in showing their work and interacting with new people.”
St Dominic’s has recently achieved an overall rating of ‘outstanding’ from the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate (ISI) in 2007, one of only a few schools in the country to achieve this distinction.
Parents were then entertained in the junior Hall by a Performing Arts concert followed by a tour of the new Music and Drama facilities, which are part of the £1.5 million Sixth Form and Performing Arts Centre, which opened to girls this September.
