KS3 Tennis trip:

On Tuesday a small group of Year 7 and Year 8 Tennis team/club members had the chance to visit the DFS Classic WTA Tennis Tournament at the Edgbaston Priory Club in Birmingham. This year the girls were booked in for a coaching session first thing before the Tournament began. This was a chance for our girls to try out their skills with LTA coaches.

There were warm-ups and plenty of rallying competitions against other teams. The girls played some great tennis and really enjoyed the competitive emphasis. It was then time for the Tournament to begin, so with their ground passes to hand, the girls enjoyed watching the practice courts and outside matches. Unfortunately we were not given Centre Court tickets this year. The girls were disappointed so I quickly called in some ‘contacts’ and was able to get 4 Centre Court tickets, for the girls to share.

Tuesday had the Great Britain girls fighting to stay in the Tournament and our girls were really lucky to watch Melanie South (GB number 4) win her match with some even managing to get her autograph. The whole day was an excellent chance to experience top class tennis on perhaps the hottest day of the year. A big thank you to all the girls who took advantage of the trip. I look forward to organising it again next summer. Fingers crossed we might get drawn Wimbledon tickets as well next year.
