Hitting the right note with £13,000 Grand Ball

The Friends' of St. Dominic’s School, Brewood have raised £13,000 at the ‘Raise a Grand Ball.’ Organised for friends, teachers and parents of the school to raise money for a baby grand piano, which has been placed in the Music Room at the new Sixth Form and Performing Arts Centre.
280 guests arrived to a champagne reception in a black and white lined marquee, decorated with white orchids and roses. During the evening a raffle and an auction were held with generous guests providing the prizes.
Head teacher Mrs Sandra White said, “We have had an amazing response to the ‘Raise a Grand Ball’ the Friends' have put a phenomenal amount of work into making the whole evening a success. A huge thank you to everyone for coming along, this will make such a difference to all the girls who use the Performing Arts Centre.”
Chairman of the Friends' of St. Dominic’s Simon Woodhams said, ”All the organisers have excelled themselves. The prizes donated were so generous, the most popular was a meal for 10 at Wolverhampton celebrity hairdressers Royston Blythe and Nick Malenko which raised £2,500.”
Other prizes, which were auctioned on the night, were a Directors’ box at Wolverhampton Wanderers, helicopter trip and two tickets to see The Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House.
St. Dominic’s School, Brewood, is a leading independent school for girls from the age 2-18 and boys from 2-7 years. The new Sixth Form and Performing Arts Centre opened in September 2007 and boasts a state of the art Recording Studio, Library and Drama Suite.
