We believe that it is important to maintain a combination of academic, artistic and sporting activity and we provide children with a regime of physical exercise to balance the challenges of their daily academic work.
Teachers work together with students to help them understand the importance of achieving this balance and to help develop skills in teamwork, personal achievement and leadership.
Pupils enthusiastically participate in our wide range of activities that range from athletics and gymnastics to netball, tennis and football.
All pupils enter a House in Year 2 Austen, Brontė or Nightingale, and participate in regular inter-house competitions with the highlights being Sports Day, House Performing Arts, House Badminton, House Football, House Rounders and House Tennis. Children enjoy the challenge of friendly competition and working as a team, helping them to grow in character and confidence, with the emphasis being as much on having fun and participating as on success.
Our sports facilities include the fully equipped purpose built Sir Jack Hayward Sports Hall, our recently refurbished and extended netball and tennis courts, extensive playing fields and an athletics track.
