Sixth Form
Our new Sixth Form is a huge success. The First cohort of student to sit A Levels gained a 98.4% pass rate and all students who applied to University were offered a place, an exceptional result when many students are fighting over University places.
We offer a full range of over 20 subjects, so there is something to choose for everybody and there are 60 places available, divided between Upper and Lower Sixth.
Our Award Winning, state of the art Sixth Form Centre provides a fantastic facility for study, research and recreation for the Sixth Form girls.
Our strong academic record continues in the Sixth Form with an emphasis on personalised learning and learning support. The seamless transition to 'A' level is an important factor in the successful continuity and progression of education beyond GCSE. We offer a range of extra curricular activities in the Sixth Form such as Duke of Edinburgh Awards, life skills, trips and visits to universities, Young Enterprise and leadership courses.
Our Sixth Form students are encouraged to be independent, confident young women, who are fully equipped to meet the challenges of Higher Education and the world of work.
The purpose-built Sixth Form Centre is contemporary and spacious, it is 600 square metres and has two storeys. We have a state of the art library incorporating an Eclipse computerised library software system, with fingerprint sign in. The library is also fitted with wireless laptop facilities and study area. We have electronic white boards and a Sixth Form Student Room, aptly named the "Pink Room" complete with sun terrace.
The Ground floor of the Sixth Form building consists of a whole school Performing Arts Centre with dedicated recording studio, music suite, practice room and drama studio with sprung floor. All set within the scenic and welcoming grounds of St Dominic’s School.
The state of the art facilities, including the recording studio and drama suite are also available for use by local community groups.
