Pre-Preparatory Department

Located within the Junior department building, St Dominic's High School for Girls Pre-Preparatory Department is an exciting and stimulating self-contained department, with extremely dedicated and highly experienced staff.

Children are accepted in to 'Little Angels Kindergarten' from the term that they are 3.  From there they progress up to the Transition class and finally move in to Reception class in the year that they turn 5.

Every effort is made to make our Pre-Preparatory department warm and home-like and we pride ourselves on the happy, friendly and safe environment that we provide for the children. Great care is given to the development and nurturing of each child and much learning takes place through activities that are fun, relevant, motivating and imaginative.

Our balanced curriculum is a mixture of self-initiated and structured learning programmes that allow children to progress at their own individual pace, whilst developing emotionally and socially, building a solid foundation of self confidence for the future, as well as focusing on the Early Learning Goals.

The teachers play a central role, introducing children to song, movement, gesture and verse, with the children enjoying the world of stories, both educational and appropriate fairy tales, which are usually told to them amongst comfy sofas and fluffy cushions. The children come to know and love the Pre-Preparatory Stage and through it, the wider world around them.
