St Dominic’s Junior department is a modern, purpose built building, spaciously designed to provide a safe and stimulating environment with its own ICT suite, Art rooms, Hall and Library, surrounded by light and airy, well equipped class rooms. Outside there is an enclosed play area and adventure playground.
Learning is progressive and each pupil follows a learning programme that matches her needs, aptitude and personality. The structure of the curriculum is designed to both stimulate and support the developing child and the academic subjects are enhanced with dance and singing integrated into the weekly timetable.
As the children move up the Junior department, they develop increasingly clear thinking and show independence in following through with activities and responsibilities. Specialist teachers are introduced in Music, Art, Design and Technology, Speech and Drama, Science, PE, ICT and Languages to further enhance each child’s subject knowledge and experience and guarantee continuity and progression between the Junior and Senior department.
The close home-school partnership is an acknowledged strength of the Junior department and whilst high security levels are stringently maintained, as a parent you are always welcome in school, with daily access to the teachers.
