One of the best things you can say about any job, activity or past-time, is that no two days are the same. And when else can this be more true than in your school days?
We pride ourselves on the variety and scope of the lessons we have on offer, the passion and commitment of our teachers and the calibre and reach of the teaching. Chatting to pupils, you soon become aware of their genuine pride and appreciation to be associated with such a well-known and respected school.
All of these elements have been praised by inspectors from the Independent Schools Council, which can be downloaded here.
But never mind what our staff say, never mind what the inspectors said – the best way to find out more about any school facility is to ask its students what they think of their surroundings, teaching and activities.
At St Dominic’s we are proud that our students have plenty to say about their school.
Here is a selection of comments from pupils:
“I like the atmosphere in school. It’s really friendly, possibly due to the small number of pupils, but also because of how we get on and how the teachers treat us with respect. I think of the teachers as friends.”
“It’s great to see that we are now having a Sixth Form. I moved schools when I was younger and the difference in the approach at St Dominic’s has been remarkable. I feel a million times more motivated and am so looking forward to joining the VI form before going to university.”
“My self confidence has rocketed thanks to my time at St Dominic’s. I love it here. Every day is different, new and exciting. I’d like to say thank you on behalf of the whole of my family. My mum says it’s a privilege to come here. I agree with her and have enjoyed making the most of that privilege.”
“I feel that my teachers are more like my friends. Their patience, good advice and good humour are much valued.”
“There have always been so many talented pupils at St Dominic’s. It’s wonderful that they can now continue their education and benefit from the marvellous range of opportunities here.”
The younger children also enjoy a great mix of activities through extended days - exercising their brains as well as their bodies.
The programme is designed to offer a wide variety of subjects for our pupils to enjoy after their normal school day, with a mixture of physical and mental activities and an emphasis on fun.
New additions to this term’s programme included brain games, story-telling, movie-making and word games, all of which are designed to help stimulate thinking, decision-making and creative skills.
Fun Japanese and Latin sessions helped encourage enjoyment of languages and awareness of different cultures.
